Well, today is the start of the big move home to NY. The movers are coming for the first walk through. On this visit they make a list of most of our belongings and get an estimate on what they will need to move us from here to NY. We will probably have everything packed up and ready to go by the 13th of June and spend about a week in a hotel finishing up with closing bank accounts, getting school records etc. Staying in a hotel will be a nice end to our life here as it is how we started. It still makes me sad when I think about leaving because I am almost sure I will not be returning and I have made many friends here. I am making them all swear they will keep in touch with me, but I know how that is. Many of my friends from the states have not kept in touch and when I get home, they will probably be surprised that I am home so quickly. I can hear it now, "has it been two years?"
Today the official announcement went out at GE naming Ed's replacement. I think he is the most happy to be going home. He has been so stressed and overworked since we got here, that going home for him will be like a vacation. He will have a few trips here during the transition but he is OK with that.
The boys are getting excited to get back home and set up their rooms again. Alex is still a bit sad at times but he says he will be OK. I think he feels the same way I do. Happy and Sad at the same time. This weekend we will hopefully do something fun and Ed said we are going out for dinner for my birthday. I get to choose the place. Now I am looking for a nice place, which is kinda like looking for a needle in a haystack. There are so many restaurants here in Dubai, I just have to decide what kind of food I want. More on that later.
